PRESS RELEASE:

Antophones returns with Coming Alive – and re-releases acclaimed debut album

Official 2025 press photo for the new Antophones album 'Coming Alive,' featuring Lise Blaase in black, softly lit and surrounded by red leaves.

After a longer break, singer and songwriter Lise Blaase returns as Antophones. The new album Coming Alive, released on May 9, 2025, marks a personal return to music. At the same time, the debut album Happy Failure is being digitally re-released on June 13 – now available for the first time on streaming platforms.

An album blending genres with emotional depth

Coming Alive was recorded over several years and moves freely between acoustic, electronic and experimental sounds. It’s an album for those who seek something genuine and unpredictable – rooted in alternative pop, art rock and the singer- songwriter tradition.

From Cliché to Electric Alarm

The string-driven single Cliché (released April 11) sets the tone with melancholy and strength. Other singles such as You Don’t See Me At All and the electronic-infused Electric Alarm reveal the project’s wide emotional and sonic range. All songs are accompanied by artistically crafted music videos – a visual universe in dialogue with the music.

Happy Failure – finally on streaming

Antophones’ debut album Happy Failure was originally released in 2005 and was praised as “a wintry soundscape with beautiful vocals and strong lyrics” (Diskant.dk) and “one of the most promising acts on the experimental pop scene” (GAFFA ★★★★).

The album originally received excellent reviews in leading Danish music magazine GAFFA, as well as from major national newspapers and cultural outlets, and was nominated for a special award at the Danish Music Awards. The single Daniel – mixed by acclaimed Danish mixing engineer Carsten Heller – received airplay on national radio stations. Now, the album is being digitally re-released on June 13, and the single Daniel (Radio Edit) was released on May 30 as a lead-up to the re-release.

A voice of integrity – with new chapters ahead

Antophones began as a six-piece band built around Lise Blaase’s songs. After some years, the band dissolved, and Blaase went on to tour with The Broken Beats, performing at Roskilde Festival, Popkomm Berlin and MIDEM in Cannes. Since then, she has has worked as a vocal coach while continuing to write Antophones material.

With Coming Alive and the re-release of Happy Failure, Antophones demonstrates that there’s still room for raw honesty and artistically driven music with depth and edge.

Later in 2025, an EP with previously unreleased material from 2007–2012 will be released, followed by a final collection of demos and co-writes from the archives.

Due to a bereavement in the immediate family shortly before the release, the official presentation of the Coming Alive album was postponed. Therefore, both the new album and the Happy Failure re-release are now being launched together.
